The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is more than a course or a mission trip. It is an opportunity to know God more deeply, discover your purpose, and learn what it means to follow Jesus in every area of life. At YWAM San Francisco, DTS is designed to help you build a strong foundation in your relationship with Christ while experiencing ministry in one of the world's most diverse cities.
The first phase of DTS is the lecture phase, where students grow through biblical teaching, worship, prayer, small groups, and community life. Topics include hearing God's voice, the character and nature of God, evangelism, relationships, missions, spiritual warfare, and living a life of obedience. Experienced speakers from around the world share practical wisdom that encourages both spiritual growth and personal transformation.
But discipleship is more than learning; it is living. Throughout the school, students actively serve the local community through outreach ministries. Whether serving people experiencing homelessness, building relationships with neighbors, praying for those in need, or partnering with local churches, students discover how God's love can be demonstrated through everyday acts of compassion and service.
The second phase is the outreach, where students take what they have learned and share the love of Christ in another culture. This is often where faith becomes personal, courage grows, and God reveals new passions for His Kingdom. Many students leave DTS with a clearer understanding of God's calling and a lifelong commitment to serving others.
One unique aspect of YWAM San Francisco is the opportunity to minister in the Tenderloin neighborhood.
