Here at YWAM San Francisco we believe in transforming, empowering and equipping, the next generation of urban ministry leaders. We believe that to love people in cities well, we must understand places, peoples and passions

Our YWAM CityYear Leadership Initiative may be the next step to: 

  • Understand the human, social, and economic dynamics of urban culture.
  • Learn how to love well in an urban setting.Integrate rhythms of self-care and growth to mature in your life and calling while serving in San Francisco’s most challenging neighborhoods.  
  • Learn from the Bay Area’s urban experts.


The Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco



Learn effective urban ministry skills.

Build relationships with people experiencing homelessness through Restoration Initiatives. Create healing community with vulnerable girls and exploited women on the streets and in sex work through Because Justice Matters. Help pioneer an empowering movement for young boys in the tenderloin facing a number of challenges growing up in the city.



A 10 month "living learning laboratory" in the Tenderloin. 

Live in community with YWAM trainees, students and staff. Ministry service in your area of choice with veteran YWAM staff mentors. Weekly intensive teaching with Bay Area experts. 3 months of personal interest exploration and engagement in one area of your choice.
