Multiple Bases in One Location!

Do you think just one base is enough for 8 million people? Do you think just one church can reach a neighborhood? It is not enough to call people from across the city to come hear the gospel in a church, event, or in a program. We have to go, live in the neighborhoods, be with the people and find unique ways to reach them. There will be different strategies for different people. Reaching the Vietnamese in San Francisco is not the same as reaching the Financial District nor is reaching the youth in Haight Ashbury the same as reaching those in Silicon Valley.

YWAM San Francisco and the Bay Area is looking for leaders who are micro focused on Peoples, Places, or Passions of Society. I call these people Micro Apostles.

Micro Apostles are incredibly focused people who want to pioneer a ministry that will bring about transformation. They have an ability to attract others around them to help build the Kingdom of God in the area of their focus.

Micro apostles are not small people. Micro Apostles are focused people. As they focus on their area of passion their ministries have a macro application. Their ministry may start out small but as they focus on hearing God’s heart for their area of concern they begin to create with God ministry applications that have a tremendous diversity that reaches their micro focus.

I can think of many Micro Apostles I have had the opportunity to work with over the years. Some have started ministries amongst street children, suicide prevention, micro enterprise, church planting amongst unreached people groups, HIV-AIDS ministries, justice ministries or business as mission.

As they start small their ministry begins to grow. They attract other like minded leaders around them who want to join together to see their area of passion transformed.

YWAM in the San Francisco Bay area has tremendous opportunities at our doorstep for Micro Apostles to come and pioneer new ministries. The San Francisco Bay area has more than 7 million people living in more than 100 cities. We are wanting to start ministries throughout the Bay Area that are decentralized yet networked together under one banner of reaching the Bay Area with the gospel.

There are more than 150,000 people from the Indian Subcontinent mainly in the Silcon Valley, 60,000 + Afghans in the city of Fremont, or 200,000 Vietnamese to name just a few of the unreached people groups in our area. The University of California at Berkeley has more than 40% of their student body from Asia.

San Francisco is a city of neighborhoods with places like Chinatown, Little Italy, The Mission, Japan Town or The Tenderloin where more than 25 languages are spoken. Each neighborhood requires unique strategies to reach them.

Are you a Micro Apostle? Want to engage an unreached people group, or see the Silicon Valley transformed, or get involved in a unique neighborhood? Do you want to start a church amongst an unreached people group, a coffee house ministry, a University outreach, a performing arts ministry, business as mission, reaching people through sports or something else? We are looking for leaders to come and join us. It was a challenging summer through which God showed me what it truly means to love and serve others.
