What is it?

The Disaster Management and Urban Health Care Program is designed to prepare students in disaster management and to use compassion and health care advocacy as a means to minister to community needs.

While this school will focus on ethnic and disenfranchised neighborhoods, the skills learned will be helpful in providing resources to local businesses and students will be able to provide many services in Developing Nations as well. A key component to this program is that students will leave with marketable skills that will provide them with job opportunities in the allied health services field.

TO APPLY FOR THE:

Disaster Management & Urban Health Care School

just follow the steps below

 Dear UHCS Applicant,

I am so excited to know that you are interested in the Urban Health Care School.  It is going to be a time of learning together how to minister to individuals and neighborhoods in the cities of the world.  You will learn skills that open doors for you in ministry and in the secular work world.  The school is academic in nature, but there will also be time for much intercession and hearing God’s voice as we seek Him regarding the specifics of how and where to use our skills to minister.  We have some wonderful people who are experts in their field who will teach us what we need to know in order to qualify ourselves for each task and/or teaching that we do.

The application for this school is a bit different than many you are used to doing.  Rather than “filling in the blanks,” I will ask you to complete the list of activities below.  This will give me the information I need, plus allow me to see your strengths in order to best serve you educationally in this UHCS classroom.

TO APPLY:

  1.  Please send me a Curriculum Vitae (Resume) -  include your schooling, jobs and hobbies
  2.  Please include an essay (around 500 words +-) on why you are interested in this school, dreams you have for the future in terms of employment or ministry, or anything else you want me to know so that I can help you meet your goals.
  3. On a separate sheet of paper write:

-Your contact information (name, address and phone)

-Emergency names and contact information

- The name, address and phone numbers of 3 references:  Pastoral, DTS leader, Employer

4.  Ask two of your references to send me a reference letter via email or post.

Here is my contact information for them:

For this program, due to our ministry focus and outreaches during the program, you will be considered short-term staff with YWAM’s Network of City Initiatives. This qualifies you to raise missionary support during this time.   Financial supporters should make checks payable to YWAM, with a note attached with your name on it.  Your name cannot be anywhere on the check.  Per IRS guidelines, all contributions to YWAM Network of City Initiatives (YWAM NOCI) are income tax deductible and made with the understanding that YWAM NOCI has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds.

Youth With A Mission Network of City Initiatives
partnering with Youth With A Mission San Francisco

This last summer was a lot more than I expected it to be, and ended up being one of my favorite summers ever. At the end of my DTS I felt like God was calling me to stay in San Francisco and do a Summer of Service. I couldn't wait to go home after the school and start my "care-free" summer, so at first working the whole summer seemed like it was going to be hard.
